Photos and a request for images

Images on this site are divided into two areas: the Online Gallery, and the Photo section of the database.

Online Gallery – For generic photos of the Trefeglwys area. Some photos are contemporary, others must older. Within this gallery, I’ve just added a section containing some old postcards, which some of you may be interested in.

Photos: the database -  Photos here are ones of people. They have been put here, as these photos can be linked to individuals and families, to bring family trees to life. Please note that you need to register / sign in to access this section of the site.

Do you have photos, or documents?  -  Do you have any old Trefeglwys postcards, that could be digitally scanned and donated to this site? We would dearly love to see images, and we would appreciate any digital donations of these. Any donated materials will be attributed to you. This is a community site, and through online collaboration it is hoped that we can build a greater understanding of the Trefeglwys parish. This can only happen through sharing of materials.
Incidentally, if you live locally, i.e. Trefeglwys, Llanidloes, mid Wales, and don’t have access to a scanner, I could visit you with a portable scanner / laptop and scan these images in your presence, and I would not take these pictures from you. Please get in touch if you can help.

Common Pleas

Do you know anything about Common Pleas?  I recently acquired two documents which can be seen here and here,* that relates to “premises wherein they are dated to be interested, are described to be in the parish of Trefeglwys in the County of Montgomery” by Lucy Matilda the wife of Marshall Christie and Louise Amelia the Wife of Raynor Hector Henry Alexander“.

The document appears to be referring to a deed (which I do not have a copy of), and testifies competency.  Can anyone expand on this?  Secondly, is anyone familiar with these names and what premises might they have owned?

Server Issues and Interests

Sorry for the long hiatus on my part. I’ve not been able to devote much attention to this website for a number of reasons, including a large move to a new server, and subsequent issues. If you notice that you get an internal 500 error / cannot access a page you want, please refresh a few times or come back later. In the meantime, I’m trying to work with my host to resolve this.

On the update front, there’s now over 200 people registered with this site and I’m having huge problems with keeping up. It would help me greatly if communication happened as a community. I’m still in the process of compiling a list of people’s interests* which is rather time consuming. To help me, so I can get a move on with other things, could you please e mail me your Trefeglwys interests, or even write the bit that goes under your name. If you have edit rights to the database, you may want to edit your section yourself.

In the meantime, I’m trying to add some new content, more updates to follow.
* Note you will need database access and be signed in to access these pages.
