Will: Garner JONES, Goitre, 1798


In the Name of God Amen I Garner Jones of Goutre [sic – usually Goitre] in the Parish of Trefeglwys County of Montgomery and Diocese of Bangor being of Sound Mind Memory and Understanding Do make and Ordain my last Will and Testament in manner and form following that is to say First I direct that all my just debts and funeral expences be paid by my executor and i give and devise to my Brother Thomas Jones all that Messuage Tenement and Lands called and known by the name of Pwllyr Ebol, situate lying and being in the Parish of Llanidloes together with its appurtenances to hold to my said Brother during his natural life After his Decease I give and devise the said Tenement with the appurtenances to my Nephew Evan Jones to hold to my said Nephew Evan Jones during his natural life after his Decease I give and Devise the said Tenement and lands with the appurtenances to my Nephew Garner Jones to hold to my said Nephew Garner Jones to him his heirs and assigns for ever Also I give and bequeath to my aforesaid Nephew Evan Jones the sum of Ten Pounds I give and bequeath to my Nephew John Jones the sum of Ten Pounds I give and bequeath to my Nephew Richard Jones the sum of Ten Pounds I give and bequeath to my Niece Elizabeth wife of Edward Morgan the sum of Ten Pounds and I give and bequeath to my Niece Jane wife of David Lewis the sum of Ten Pounds to be paid her at the decease of her Husband should she happen to Survive him otherwise the said sum of Ten Pounds to Remain in the hands of my Executor as to the Rest and Residue of my Ready Money Securities for Money, Bills, Bonds, Goods, Chattels and Personal Estate of what kind or quality soever I give leave and bequeath the same to my said Nephew Garner Jones whom I do hereby Nominate Constitute and Appoint Sole Executor of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking and making Void all and every Will or Wills by me heretofore made declaring this to be My last In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Sixth day of April in the year One thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Six # Garner Jones [sign for seal] Signed sealed published and declared by the said Testator as and for his Last Will and Testmaent in the presence of us who in his presence and in the presence of each other Subscribed hereunto our Names # John Davies # Sarah Jarvis # John Davies Clerk

This Will was proved at London the third day of February in the year of Our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Ninety Eight before the Right Honorable Sir William Wynne Knight Doctor of Laws Master Keeper or Commissary of the Prerogative Court of Canterbury lawfully constituted by the oath of Garner Jones the Nephew of the deceased and Sole Executor named in the said Will to whom Administration was granted of all and Singular the Goods Chattels and Credits of the said deceased having been first Sworn by the Commission Duly to Administer.
